What is the Teacher Academy of Maryland?

The Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM) is a State-approved Career and Technology Education (CTE) program of study.  This program was developed collaboratively among eighteen (18) local school systems, eleven (11) community colleges, four (4) four-year institutions, and representatives from the University System of Maryland, the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Maryland State Department of Education.   TAM aims to address the teacher shortage by creating a pipeline of future teacher candidates, starting with establishing Educators Rising chapters in local school systems, preferably in middle grades/schools.  TAM students remain active Ed Rising members throughout their high school experience and are encouraged to pursue post-secondary degrees and careers in education.
